PARKINSON'S LAW - Daughter Of Thunder And Lightning / I Need Your Loving And I Can't Let Go (RCA 1972) Even though it's not up to the same standard, "Daughter Of Thunder And Lightning" reminds me of the Hamlett's "Vampire Man". An amazing freak/glam rock number penned, as written on the label, by Parkinson - who should be the same person who wrote the incredible Boneshaker's "Sweetness" and the a side of the beautiful P.A.T.C.H.'s "Where Are You Now", already on Proudfoot Sound blog. UK issue.
CAPTAIN ROCK AND THE SKYRIDERS - Lupy Lu / Together (Crystal 1977) Amazing picture sleeve and great glam/proto-punk version of Lupy Lu. After this lonely single released as Captain Rock And The Skyriders, Peter Dye and Kelvin Purcell formed Buzz, releasing two other singles on the Crystal label. UK issue, produced by Peter Dye.
TANK - Fast Train / This World's an Apple (Polydor 1973) Here's another British obscure single. "Fast Train" is a glam/boogie number that reminds me of Blackfoot Sue, while the b side is a rural hard rockin' piece with catchy guitar riffs. Both songs where produced and written by John Bromley, a Polydor songwriter who also released a bunch of singles and one LP by the end of the 60s and Martin Rushent, better known as the producer of bands such as 999, The Stranglers, Buzzcocks and many others. UK issue. Fast Train
ALBRATROSS - Anything I Want To Do (197? - Trident Studios Acetate) The same Albatross who released the singles "The Band Played On" - already on this blog - and "Tobacco Road". Here's the acetate of their second single, a solid rocker with robust guitar riffage. Enjoy!
DOUGLAS - Monkey Song / Montego Sunshine (CBS 1975) This single by Sweden's Douglas Westlunds was already reviewed by Purepop years ago. I'm posting it again just to show you this amazing Italian picture cover and to give you another chance to listen to this incredible catchy track.
THE FRONT END - Eeny Meeny / You (Smash 1967) Amazing tune by obscure US band The Front End. Unfortunately I can't find any info about them, but "Eeny Meeny" is a catchy bubblegum/garage song and is worthy of your attention. Produced by Steve and Bill Jerome.
TURNPIKE - Big Machine / Lazer Thereza (Fontana 1974) UK pressing of this atmospheric Psych/Glam number released in 1974 by obscure band Turnpike. Produced by Tim Hollier. Enjoy!
THE RIPPERS - Rape / Dance (Global Records 1971) Here's another typical Jonathan King production. "Rape" is a funny, catchy pop song made even better thanks to this amazing picture cover.
German issue.
CASA DAS MAQUINAS - Casa de Rock (1976) Cool video and great glam rock tune by '70s Brazilian band Casa das Máquinas. This track is from their third album "Casa de Rock", released in 1976. Enjoy!
