GNP - Can't We All / Can't We All (Metromedia 1972) Gross National Productions, or GNP were one of the early 70s Boston more original bands. Their album "P-Flaps And Low Blows" and their single "Can't We All" were produced by the legendary New York Dolls "Too Much too Soon" producer Shadow Morton. US issue.
BZN - Goodbye Sue (1975) One of the most popular Dutch bands of the 70s, BZN (Band Zonder Naam or "Band Without a Name") produced some good glam singles such as "GoodBye Sue" and "Bad Bad Woman" issued in 1971.
TEARS - Ooh Lah / Messalina (Gazell 1974) During the 70s the Swedish Tears released some good glam rock singles and three albums of which I would recommend the first two. Their first album includes both songs recorded on this single, completing a totally "Sweet" stlyled work.
TROLL BROTHERS - You Turn Me On / Turn Out The Lights (SRT PRODUCTIONS 197?) Review by Robin Wills (http://purepop1uk.blogspot.com) A strange release this one, to me it has a strong frat rock (The Premiers, Swilling Medallions) feel mixed it with a bit of One Hit Wonders (Mike Berry). From the catalogue number I would suggest it came out in 73/74. My theory is that the band was a pseudonym for George Bellamy (Ex Tornados) possibly with fellow ex members such Clem Clattini. The original Tornados re-recorded Telstar around this is on SRT. SRT was George’s label and GeoBell music was his own publishing company.
AXE - Puttin’ Me Down / Save Me (Gull 1974) Second record released by Gull, a Decca’s subsidiary. Produced by Rod Alexander and Bill Kimber for Hardcore Production, German issue.
ANGEL OF ISLINGTON - We Want A Superstar For Christmas / Have Yourself A Merry Christmas (Decca 1975) Christmas is coming so, here’s the right song from the Angel Of Islington featuring the children of Kings Gate School, West Hampstead. Produced by Nick Tauber and Paul Curtis.
TRIUMVIRAT - Dancer’s Delight / Timothy (Harvest 1973) Originally released by Harvest in ‘71, this is the 1973 reissue of the German power trio Triumvirat’s first single, a band which later become more popular in the prog rock circuit.
IRON CROSS - Everybody Rock On / All Of The Time (Palette 1974) Another amazing record by Iron Cross. "Everybody Rock On" came out one year after their other single “Little Bit O’ Soul”. Produced by Barry Kingston, Dutch issue.
LOVE AND TEARS - Much Too Youg / Action Man (Intercord 1973) This is not another version of the Vulcan’s song “Much Too Youg” (check Purepop blog, http://purepop1uk.blogspot.com), it’s exactly the same! In addition to this, Love And Tears’ works include three other singles, “Needles And Pins”, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Lullaby”, "Love Of Yesterday" and one LP. Who knows if the Vulcan are the “fake” ones… Having been produced by the German singer Micheal Holm, I guess they’re probably German too. Anyway, don’t miss the chance to hear again this great track. Enjoy!
