RESCUE CO. NO. 1 - Life's Too Short

RESCUE CO. NO. 1 - Life's Too Short / Then I Think About You (Rak 1971)

Second single released by UK outfit Rescue Co. No. 1, a studio project by Chris Arnold, David Martin and Geoff Morrow who released other records as Butterscotch and Go Go Thunder.
The verse of the song is the same as Sisters' glam stomper "Kick Your Boots Off", which came out two years later. UK issue produced by Arnold, Martin, Morrow.

TED MULRY - You've Got It / My Little Girl

TED MULRY GANG - My Little Girl / You've Got It (Mushroom 1977)
I wasn't sure which Ted Mulry Gang's record to put on this blog because I love almost everything he's done. Born in England but achieving success in Australia, Mulry released several OzRock classics, mainly on the Albert label, before he died in 2001. Here's one of his lesser-known singles, the first released on Mushroom Records. Australian issue, produced by TMG.

DUMMY - Dummy Boy

DUMMY - Dummy Boy / Hi, There (Ariola 1975)
Another Nederglam obscurity. "Dummy Boy" is a great glam punker with
a fat Moog sound. Dutch issue, produced by Dick Van Velden. Enjoy!

THE PROTECTORS - Loretta

THE PROTECTORS - Loretta / Jump The Sidewalk (Live Wire 1975)

A total obscurity released on Live Wire in 1975. I don't know anything about the Protectors, but Loretta is a good Junkshop tune with cool synth and handclaps written and produced by Keith Bonsor who also penned Zior's "Cat's Eyes" in 1972. UK issue.

PARKINSON'S LAW - Daughter Of Thunder And Lightning

PARKINSON'S LAW - Daughter Of Thunder And Lightning / I Need Your Loving And I Can't Let Go (RCA 1972)
Even though it's not up to the same standard, "Daughter Of Thunder And Lightning" reminds me of the Hamlett's "Vampire Man". An amazing freak/glam rock number penned, as written on the label, by Parkinson - who should be the same person who wrote the incredible Boneshaker's "Sweetness" and the a side of the beautiful P.A.T.C.H.'s "Where Are You Now", already on Proudfoot Sound blog. UK issue.

CAPTAIN ROCK AND THE SKYRIDERS - Lupy Lu

CAPTAIN ROCK AND THE SKYRIDERS - Lupy Lu / Together (Crystal 1977)

Amazing picture sleeve and great glam/proto-punk version of Lupy Lu. After this lonely single released as Captain Rock And The Skyriders, Peter Dye and Kelvin Purcell formed Buzz, releasing two other singles on the Crystal label. UK issue, produced by Peter Dye.

TANK - Fast Train / This World's an Apple

TANK - Fast Train / This World's an Apple (Polydor 1973)
Here's another British obscure single. "Fast Train" is a glam/boogie number that reminds me of Blackfoot Sue, while the b side is a rural hard rockin' piece with catchy guitar riffs. Both songs where produced and written by John Bromley, a Polydor songwriter who also released a bunch of singles and one LP by the end of the 60s and Martin Rushent, better known as the producer of bands such as 999, The Stranglers, Buzzcocks and many others. UK issue.
