PENNY WONDER - Come On / Angel (Philips 1971) Catchy glam rock number by German outfit Penny Wonder featuring Accept's "I'm a Rebel" producer Dirk Steffens. "Come On" was their first and only release. German issue.
ROCKY RHODES - Crazy Eyes / Rocky Rhodes' Boogie (Tiffany 1974) Great and obscure British junkshop glam rock released on the short-lived Tiffany records. "Crazy Eyes" is a pure Mud-style performance, with prominent synth, ultra compressed drums and catchy guitars. UK issue, produced by Pete Sinfield.
JACK CARONE - Candy's Always Handy / Time For A Change (Capitol 1969) Here's a beautiful US psych pop/bubblegum number with catchy production, penned and produced by the legendary Kenny Laguna together with Paul Naumann. Enjoy!
GLO MACARI - Lookin' For Love / People Like You ( People Like Me) (Columbia 1971) Recorded at EMI Studios London in 1971, "Lookin' For Love" by Glo Macari and Slowload is an amazing glam rockin' piece with catchy vocals, crunching guitar and, of course, loud handclaps. Portuguese issue, produced by Roger Ferris.
MOUNTAIN CHILD - Ragged Trousers / Maybe I'm In Love (EMI 1975) Great fast and loud boogie number released by this British obscure band, Mountain Child. UK issue, produced by Gil King.
LAINEY WALKER - Make Up / Guilty (Penny Farthing / Bellaphon 1974) "Make Up" is a solid glitter rock tune, penned and produced by Larry Page, by Lainey Walker who released another single on Penny Farthing in 1975 called "Choo Choo Man". German issue.
JAMES HOGG BAND - Gotta Be a Winner / Everybody Smile (Regal Zonophone 1973) The last and best single from this Welsh combo. Both tracks are tight guitarockers in the mould of pre-AC/DC Marcus Hook Roll Band. James Hogg released two more singles called "Lovely Lady Rock" and "California Blues" both on Regal Zonophone in 1972. Produced by Philip Sampson, UK pressing.
THE EQUALS - Honey Bee / Put Some Rock & Roll In Your Soul (President 1973) So, here's the Equals' "Honey Bee" written and produced by Eddy Grant who, at that time, had already left the band to start his solo career. Italian issue.
THE PIONEERS - Honey Bee / Hot Blooded Man (Trojan 1974) This Junkshop bubbleglam gem by Jamaican reggae trio The Pioneers, really surprised me. "Honey Bee" is a pure Equals-style performance and it was infact produced by Eddy Grant. Another song called "Honey Bee" was released, one year before, by The Equals themselves and it will be the next post on this blog. Thanks to Enrico.
CROCODILE - We've Only Just Begun / I Can't Forget You (Decca 1977) In the style of Downhill Racers or Dead End Kids, here's two good commercial sounding Teen-Glam-Pop numbers by obscure British combo Crocodile. German issue, produced by John Hudson, Chris Warren and Norman Hitchcock.
